Preserving Honor on Temple Street: WFT Backs Eagle Scout’s Restoration Effort

The Whitman Freedom Team (WFT) recently was pleased to present a check to Eagle Scout Ryan Gray to help defray the costs he incurred while refurbishing the Whitman Firefighters Memorial which is prominently displayed in front of the fire station on Temple Street. The work of Ryan recognizes the sacrifices made by local fire fighters to protect the lives and property of Whitman residents. The WFT is proud to be a part of Ryan’s work as it reflects its commitment to foster a community spirit of unity and support for those in public service.

The financial assistance given to Ryan is part of the Whitman Freedom Team’s ongoing involvement in projects that are designed to advance its mission statement of love, inclusion and trust. Besides providing funds for the work of Ryan, the WFT raises funds to foster and support families in the community who need a helping hand. It has also awarded scholarships to Whitman Hanson graduates, provided professional training for staff members who focus on neurodiverse students, paid registration fees for youth sports and field trips and helped fund school assemblies such as the Family Food Festival held at the Whitman Hanson Regional School District.

Whitman is a wonderful community with so many residents like Ryan Gray who work to improve the lives and futures of those who live in the town. The WFT remains committed to continue to make Whitman a welcoming place that preserves freedom and seeks to end racism, bigotry and prejudice.
