financial support as they head off to college, trade school and summer camp. It is safe to say that the Whitman Freedom Team can’t wait for Whitman Day 2027.

On a beautiful sunny Saturday, the Whitman Freedom Team (WFT) headed to the town park to celebrate Whitman Day. Setting up shop with our banner and core motto—Love, Inclusion, Trust—it was a day packed with community spirit and connection.

Flags, Fun & Live Music

The WFT tent was buzzing all day long! Here’s a quick look at what went down:

Festive Giveaways: In honor of Flag Day, members handed out American flags and custom WFT motto pencils reading ‘Love, Inclusion, Trust.’
The Big Raffle: Visitors lined up to enter a raffle for a massive ice cream gift basket, complete with all the fixings from Hornstra’s right here in Whitman.
Live Tunes: The official WFT band, The Funkin' Donuts (led by Ken Kalen), kept the energy high and played to an enthusiastic, dancing crowd.

Connecting with the Community

WFT President Tom Evans was on the ground all day, greeting neighbors, answering questions about our mission, and even catching up with the local cable station for an interview. We were incredibly touched by the generosity of so many visitors who stepped up to make donations to help fund our upcoming work.

Why We Do What We Do

Whitman Day was a wonderful opportunity to showcase how the WFT serves our town. We are deeply committed to:

Helping local residents in need.
Supporting those facing physical and emotional challenges.
Fighting against racial, ethnic, gender, and religious discrimination.
Assisting students seeking financial support for college, trade school, and summer camp.
